Putting it together

For testing and initial competition purposes, the arena should be set up as individual lanes.

For a maze, the arena can be configured into a maze that can be navigated in sequence. The following is an example. Note that this includes the “ant farm” stack on the left, where robots must survive a drop from one level to the next.

For RoboCup 2017 in Nagoya, one of each is required for the preliminaries, allowing teams to practice in the maze while competing in individual lanes. This will switch to two mazes for the finals.

The arena is supported by panels as follows, with cross bracing to hold the pallets up.

For the 2017 RoboCup arena, 12 of these will be required with a total material requirement as follows:

  • 24x 50 x 100 x 1,200 mm timber.
  • 24x 50 x 100 x 300 mm timber.
  • 12x 300 x 1200 mm OSB sheets.
